India 's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle,  in its 49th flight (PSLV - C47), successfully launched Cartosat - 3 along with 13 nanosatellites of USA from Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota on November 27,  2019.  This is the first commercial order to put into orbit 13 American nanosatellites under commercial  arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO. 

Cartosat - 3 is the most complex and advanced earth observation satellite built by ISRO. 

The mission life of the Cartosat - 3 is 5 years. It will address the increased user's demands for  large scale urban planning, rural resources and infrastructure development, coastal land use and land cover, etc. ISROs space programs have been highly application - specific and have given national - level benefits. Today, India operates one of the largest constellations of remote  Sensing space based imaging satellites.

ABOUT CARTOSAT - 3 
Cartosat - 3 is a third - generation agile advanced earth observation satellite with high - resolution imaging capability. It has many new technologies / elements like highly agile structural platform, payload platform, higher rate data handling and transmission  systems, advanced onboard computer and new power electronics, dual gimbal antenna and others .

Cartosat - 3 has a panchromatic resolution of 0.25 meters making it the imaging satellite with a high quality resolution, which is a major improvement from the previous payloads in the Cartosat series.  The satellite will replace the IRS series. 
The CARTOSAT - 3 mission is a huge leap from the previous payloads in the CARTOSAT series.  The CARTOSAT - 3, with an overall mass of over 1600 kg, will address the increased user demand for large - scale urban planning, rural resource and infrastructure development, coastal land use and land cover.
